A reminder that two important events are scheduled next week for CHBA – Calgary Region members. The first is our annual Economic Forecast Dinner Meeting on Wednesday, January 11th at Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre. The event has two keynote speakers: Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Richard Cho, senior market analyst with CMHC, Calgary branch. Both speakers will be available for a question-and-answer session afterwards. And since Mayor Naheed Nenshi will be in attendance, we’d like to remind everyone to be sure to fill out the short questionnaire regarding The Mayor’s CUT RED TAPE initiative, if you have not already done so. This critical short questionnaire is your chance to make your views known. The mayor wants to know what your critical issue is with your dealings with the city – and he wants your solution to the problem. The online questionnaire is at www.cutredtape.ca from now until January 31st, 2012. Alternately, you can call 3-1-1 and submit your suggestions to cut red tape. The second important event for our members is our annual HomExpo Jan. 13th to 15th at BMO Centre, Stampede Park. This event is a major fundraiser for our organization and we are very proud of it. In addition, FOR THE FIRST TIME, we are able to offer FREE PARKING FOR THE FIRST 300 CARS THROUGH THE GATES EACH DAY OF THE SHOW, thanks to Stampede Park. The show has seminars from such well-known HGTV show hosts (past and present) including Sarah Richardson (Sarah’s House), John Sillaots (In the Workshop) and Andrew Downward (Divine Design). Take the time to check out what the show has to offer our members and consumers. We have a limited number of free tickets available at CHBA – Calgary Region offices as well, if you are interested.
